As July arrives in Edinburgh, the city bursts with activity as people make the most of the long summer days. Whether you are just visiting or rediscovering your home town, our highlights will help you dive into the best of Edinburgh this July.



Castle Concerts
Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade will come alive this July with a run of spectacular open-air concerts. With the iconic castle as a backdrop, the concert series will feature performances from musical acts such as Garbage, Snow Patrol and Callum Beattie. 

Portobello Beach
Escape the city and head to the charming seaside town of Portobello. The perfect location to spend a warm, sunny July day. Enjoy strolling the Victorian era promenade, lined with lovely cafes and restaurants. Take a dip in the sea to cool off, then find a spot on the two-mile-wide beach to relax and watch the world go by.

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival
From 17 to 26 July 2026, the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival will fill the city with the soulful sounds of jazz, blues, and funk, bringing together an exciting mix of world-class musicians and homegrown talent in venues and streets across the capital.



Dovecot Studios
Launching on 18 July 2026, Dovecot Studios’ exhibition 'Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop' launches. Founded in London in 1965 by Oscar and BAFTA-winning costume designer John Bright, Cosprop is a world‑renowned specialist in period costume for film, television and theatre. This exhibition celebrates sixty years of creativity, revealing the craft behind iconic productions through costumes, sketches and expert insights.

The Royal Yacht Britannia
Come aboard Queen Elizabeth II’s former floating palace and explore five decks of Royal history. Wander through the State Apartments and the Crew’s Quarters, marvel at the gleaming Engine Room and soak up the sunshine and sea breeze on the Verandah Deck.
