Weekly Snaps
6 June 2025
Photography has always played an important role on Britannia. While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life aboard the Royal Yacht.
In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, Ruth McQuiggan, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today.

Posing for a photo next to the statue of the longest serving Royal Yachtsman, Ellis 'Norrie' Norrell MVO RVM, is a favourite spot for visitors to The Royal Yacht Britannia.

Visitors enjoy following in the footsteps of Royalty as they tour the five decks of Britannia, while listening to stories about life at sea with our complimentary audio guide.

In the Silver Pantry, our Housekeeping team work hard to keep all items gleaming. During Royal service, every single item had to be polished daily.

Unwind in the elegant Royal Deck Tearoom and savour our tempting selection of soups, sandwiches, cakes, and scones while enjoying views over the Port of Leith.

A freshly made cappuccino, topped with a charming chocolate Royal Yacht stencil, awaits a Tearoom guest.

The Tearoom's menu is full of flavourful lunch options, such as our honey roast Ayrshire ham, grain mustard and vine tomato sandwich.

Pawel, Chef de Partie, putting the finishing touches on the Galley's signature soup, cream of Cullen skink.

Spot the intricate white and gold carved details on the replica binnacle, located on the Verandah Deck.

The Shop’s Admiral Collection of fine bone china is inspired by the gold ring stripes worn on Royal Navy Admirals’ cuffs.

With beautiful notes of spiced amber, heather and patchouli, the Wild Heather range from Scottish Fine Soaps is a great idea for a special gift.

On Fingal's Quayside, the wildflower meadow is bursting into bloom—thanks to a great partnership with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
