Weekly Snaps
7 February 2025
Photography has always played an important role on Britannia. While she was in service, there was always a 'Yottie' appointed, nicknamed 'Snaps', to take photographs of life aboard the Royal Yacht.
In keeping with this tradition, we now have our own Photographer in Residence, Ruth McQuiggan, who has been capturing our very own Weekly 'Snaps' - a collection of snapshots of life around the ship today.

Make sure to take a moment to pause during your self-guided tour to take a memorable photograph on The Royal Yacht Britannia's decks.

While touring Britannia, visitors love to admire the lovely views over the Firth of Forth from the Verandah Deck.

Polishing the many lengths of brass handrails aboard is a big task. Housekeepers Renata and Lynne work hard to keep them gleaming.

Featuring alongside our signature soup, cream of Cullen skink & chive, cream of carrot soup was a special on the Royal Deck Tearoom's menu this week.

Treat yourself while aboard with a slice of Britannia’s own carrot cake with orange zest and cinnamon cream cheese frosting.

From loose-leaf tea, wine, and cocktails, the Tearoom's menu has a wide selection of drinks to choose from.

Britannia was unique in the Royal Navy for having a laundry that was permanently staffed by her own crew.

The Sun Lounge was one of Queen Elizabeth II's favourite spaces on the Royal Yacht. Offering lovely views from the picture windows, it was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea.

Fingal Hotel's duplex suites span over two levels, with a hand-carved spiral staircase and gorgeous bathroom.

The Luxury Duplex Suites have spacious bathrooms which offer dual vanities as well as a roll top bath.
